iPad & Laptop Codes of Conduct

St Joseph’s School Northam works to prepare students for learning in the 21st century. iPads and Laptops are tools to enhance student learning. Each student learns in their own way, at their own pace and digital devices help to support the learner, regardless of their ability and/or motivation.

Students in Years 7 - 12 are required to bring personal laptops for class use. In Years 4, 5 and 6, iPads are available for class use through either a personal device bought in from home or the use of a school iPad. In all other primary year levels, class sets of iPads are available. 

The use of iPads and laptops at St Joseph’s School is a privilege, specifically designed to be a resource to enhance student learning. Students are to abide by the School regulations concerning the acceptable use of electronic devices and any breach of this Code of Conduct will result in the loss of use of that device. The School's ICT  & Device Usage Guidelines can be found on our website. 

• Access to class sets of iPads

Students in Years 4 - 6:

• Optional BYO iPad or access to a school iPad for those who chose not to bring their own device.

Students in Years 7 - 12:

• Laptop is the preferred device for all students from 2023, however for students transitioning from the Primary campus with an iPad may continue to use this device until it needs to be replaced. It should be replaced with a laptop.

All new students to the Secondary campus should commence with a laptop.

Device guidelines and purchase recommendations can be found below: parents/caregivers can take these information sheets and provide them at the place of purchasing to help them make an informed choice
