Schooling Destinations 2026
Families are asked to inform the school if their intention is to withdraw their children from St Josephs for the 2026 school year. We understand that family situations change, so ask that you let us know ASAP. This can be done by emailing admin@sjsnortham.wa.edu.au or by competing the Departure Form on the school website. Some year levels have very long wait lists and families who are desperate to get their children into the school.

We have had a very exciting and busy term of learning in Year 3! To kick off our new Talk for Writing unit, we created our own clay trolls. This hands-on activity sparked our imaginations and has helped bring writing to life. In Religion, we took a walk to the church where students had the chance to explore, reflect, and ask thoughtful questions about the space and its meaning in our community. In Maths, Smarties became more than just a treat! Students used them to investigate statistics and probability, practising how to collect, sort, and represent data in a fun and delicious way.
Our Science lessons have focused on heat, exploring how it moves and changes objects. Students have been curious scientists, predicting and observing closely. In HASS, we have been learning about Australia, identifying the states, territories, and capital cities. It’s been a term full of creativity, curiosity, and discovery and we cannot wait to see where the term takes us!
Little Joeys - Term 3
'Little Joey's Stay & Play' group for 0-3 year olds, is on again this term. Come along and join this fun introduction to St Joseph’s School and we look forward to seeing the excited faces most Friday mornings.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)Its been a really busy semester for the VET program with 32 students completing work placements in and around the Avon Valley. Following a highly successful work placement, three students were offered and started fulltime apprenticeships and traineeships this semester, and another student started a school-based apprenticeship, working 2 days a week and studying at school for the remaining 3. Two more students have secured fulltime apprenticeships which will start at the end of term 3. Thank you to all the local business which support the Workplace Learning Program each year.

Career Expo
All year 10s attended the SkillsWest Careers Expo at the Perth Exhibition Centre this term where they engaged with industry representatives, training organisations and employers. Career conversations are really important as students plan their subject choices for upper secondary education and begin to map out possible career pathways.
The Uniform Shop days for in-term appointments this year have changed to Monday & Wednesdays.
**PLEASE REMEMBER!**
All 'old' uniform, or combinations of old and new uniform items, can be worn until the end of the 2026 school year.
- All sizes of relaxed Year 3 - 10 blue shirts: now available to order in Permapleat online shop
- Sizes 12, 18 and 20 relaxed navy elastic back shorts: out of stock, unavailable until the end August
* From time of ordering, orders will take around a week to make it home via your child's classroom / homeroom baskets. Thank you for your patience.
- WHITE ANKLE SOCKS: We have almost run out of our stock of these and are not reordering. Short white socks can be purchased from various stores, including a few locally.
- KINDY SHIRT UPDATE: As we are running down our supplies of old-style house shirts (the same fit as the Kindy polos), we have decided to make them available for Pre-kindy and Kindy Sizes 4, 6 and 8 are now all $10 each. Please note that not all colours available in these sizes. Any colour can be worn by Pre-kindy and Kindy students, as Houses are not allocated until Pre-primary. Please email Mrs James with any queries.
- KINDY WINDCHEATER ALTERNATIVE: We are also making the out-going tracksuit jackets available to Pre-kindy and Kindy students. With low numbers available in only size 4 and at $30 each, they are the same price as the windcheaters currently for sale.
- Pre-Primary - Year 2: Tracksuit Jackets and Tracksuit Pants sizing information:
- These new jackets are sized smaller than our current tracksuit jackets. As a guide: the NEW size 6 is almost the same as our old-style size 4.

- Please remember that the new tracksuit jackets and pants in the navy fleece fabric with white stripes down the sides, are to be worn ONLY by Pre-Primary - Year 2 students.

We update the School's Newsletter and Facebook page regularly, so please check both these places often for up-to-date uniform shop information.
Our next P&F meeting will be held Monday, September 1, at 3.30pm at the PAC. A Teams link will be available, in next week's newsletter, to those who cannot attend in person and wish to attend online.
All caregivers are welcome to attend the meetings and it would be great to have as many people there to help support our school! We have so many great events coming this year, I can’t wait to share it with you!
The P&F will be reinstating Parent Contacts for each year group. These contacts will be in charge of monitoring each year groups Facebook page, coordinating class catch ups and liaising with the P&F about class matters. If you feel this position would suit you please contact me to discuss. Notice regarding Northam Dental Therapy Centre
The School Dental Service clinic based at the Northam Primary School was unfortunately flooded over the 2024/2025 school holidays, this has led to a temporary closure for maintenance/refurbishment. In early 2025 a mobile dental van was organised to be based in Toodyay so staff could continue to provide dental services to the Northam area, this dental team will move to the Wundowie Primary School for Term 3 & 4 of 2025 and continue to operate during school hours with the anticipated reopening of Northam Dental Therapy Centre in early 2026.
The dental team will continue to contact patients who usually attend the Northam Dental Therapy Centre via phone call or letter to offer families to attend at the Wundowie Primary School.
