Term Update from the Workshop: Projects Underway Across Year Levels

It’s been a busy and exciting time in the Design and Technologies space as students across multiple year groups dive into hands-on learning and design challenges.

Year 11 Coffee Tables Taking Shape

Our Year 11 students are currently in the making phase of their coffee table projects. With a variety of creative table top designs coming together and some impressively sturdy bases already constructed, the final results promise to be both practical and visually striking.

Year 7 CAD with Onshape

This semester, Year 7 students have begun learning how to use Onshape CAD (Computer-Aided Design/Drawing). The aim is for students to plan and draw their project designs digitally before stepping into the workshop. They’ll also be able to transfer these designs to our laser cutter to cut out parts and add engravings, introducing them to the possibilities of digital fabrication.

Year 9/10 STEM: Gearing Up for CO₂ Dragsters

In STEM, our Year 9 and 10 students have begun designing their CO₂ dragsters. With a class of 23 students, the energy is high as we prepare to nominate entries for the State CO₂ Championships, which will be held on September 12 this year. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their design thinking and engineering skills in a competitive environment.

Year 10 Woodwork: Bowl Turning on the Lathes

Year 10 wood students are set to take on the lathes this term to turn their own wooden bowls. This project will involve several processes but should be very interesting. Watch this space!

Digital Technologies

Our Year 8 students have begun learning how to use spreadsheets effectively and will soon move on to further coding techniques. These foundational skills set the stage for further learning in Years 9 and 10, where students continue to develop their coding abilities through elective subjects.  These modules combine to offer a strong pathway to career in computer programming.

All 'old' uniform, or combinations of old and new uniform items, can be worn until the end of the 2026 school year. 

• Sports Uniform - this can be purchased from the uniform shop, via the CDFPay app. We still have stock of the older style house shirts available for sale in various sizes. Please note that the incoming tracksuit pants will have the school’s name on the upper left thigh. We will phase in the new as we sell out of the previous stock..
