Message from the Leadership Team
Congratulations to our Primary Interschool Swimming team who represented the school superbly on Tuesday at the CAPPS carnival in Perth. There were some excellent individual results, however, the most wonderful thing to see was the encouragement of our students when each of their teammates took to the water. Thank you to Mr Watson for his organisation of the event.
Northam Town Team Children’s Street Fair
The Northam Town Team Children’s Street Fair is on this Saturday afternoon from 2.00pm - 5.00pm in the grounds of the St Joseph’s Church. Come along and support those students and families who are holding a stall. There are also many free stalls for children to take part in as well as a free sausage sizzle.

Also, this Saturday, is the first of our Community Masses, held at 5:30pm in the Church. We would love to see many of our students and their families at this mass.
Colour Run
Information regarding the Colour Run on Friday 28 March, has been sent home with each child. The booklet contains all the information you will need regarding times and what to wear. This link for online donations was emailed to families late last week and can also be found below. The link can be shared with neighbours, grandparents and extended family.
We recognise that the cost of living is difficult for many families, however, we are asking that all families try to make a donation towards the Colour Run as this is the P&F’s major fundraiser and is only held every 2 years.
With the funds raised the P&F will be making donations towards
- new home readers on the Primary campus,
- a laser cutter on the Secondary campus
- if there are enough funds then a water bottle filling station on each campus
We can’t wait for the fun of the day!

School Fees for 2025 School Year
2025 School Fees have been emailed out today. Please make sure you check in your junk mail box that it hasn't gone there by mistake. If you haven't received your fee statement please contact our Finance Department at finance@sjsnortham.wa.edu.au or by calling the Primary Campus on 9621 3500, thank you.
The School Advisory Council has endorsed the increase of the school fees by 4%. This is an average figure, with the primary fees not being impacted as much by the increases. This was tabled at the Annual School Community Meeting in November. A link to the 2025 school fees can be found here.
This week's clip has a focus on 'Temptations' and more particularly, The Jesus in the Desert story.

Year 2 Classes
What a wonderful start to the new school year, in Year 2! We are very excited for swimming lessons coming up next week and the colour run in week 8. We have been focusing on our red and green choices in the classroom, our new routines and treating others the way we would like to be treated.
In Maths we have been learning all about shapes which has been lots of fun, along with learning about Place Value and how it helps us understand bigger numbers.
In English we have been practicing our new spelling words each week with lots of fun activities in our rotations and how to partner test at the end! In writing our focus has been on recounts and narratives, writing all about our weekends in the correct structure. In our Talk for Writing, Alfie has been keeping us on our toes with his bag of jellybeans and new places we continue to take the original story.
We are very excited for all the upcoming events!

Marist Youth Ministry 'Connect' Camp
On Wednesday March 12 some of our Senior Secondary Students journeyed to Bunbury to participate in the 1st Marist Youth 'Connect' Night in WA for 2025. Students gathered with students from Newman College and Bunbury Catholic College to discuss elements of God's plan for us and avenues where we can be Pilgrims of Hope.
The night included games, Liturgy and a Q & A session that allowed students to learn about God's plans for us in amongst a Marist setting.
Our students enjoyed the time away to reflect and develop as a group and we thank Issy Ochtman, Marist Youth Ministry, Mrs Marasco and Bunbury Catholic College for hosting us during our visit.

A note from the School Health Nurse for Primary Parents
Welcome to the new school year!
My name is Aimee Leeson and I am the School Health Nurse who visits your school.
School Health nurses support children’s healthy development and wellbeing in primary schools. We offer a free health check (School Entry Health Assessment) for all children in the year that they start school. You may recall receiving a School Entry Health Assessment form at enrolment in Kindy. If you sign and return it, I can check your child’s vision, hearing, teeth, growth, and development (Thank you to the Kindy Parents who have already returned their form!) School Health Nurses provide feedback and support to families and schools after assessment and connect you with services in the community. We promote parenting programs and help with health care plans for students with identified and chronic health needs. Additionally, we may provide advice and support for some areas of the curriculum delivery on request by the school.
If you have a concern about your child’s health or wellbeing please contact me at aimee.leeson@health.wa.gov.au or on 0400 182 654
Immunisation - a reminder
Maintaining a high level of immunisation within our community is very important in controlling many communicable diseases in Australia.
It is important for parents to make sure that their children have received all of the childhood vaccinations. This includes Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough), and polio vaccines as soon as your child has turned 4 years old. If you are unsure, phone 1800 653 809.
If your child has missed out on vaccinations, a doctor or immunisation nurse can provide ‘catch-up’ vaccinations.
Make an appointment with a GP or visit the local (free) immunisation clinic run by our Child Health Nurses at the Northam Hospital- Ambulatory Care Building (Phone (08) 9690 1320 to arrange an appointment).
A note from the School Health Nurse for Secondary Parents
If you have any concerns about your child’s health, development, or well-being, please contact me through the school office, or through the contact details noted below.
School health services are an easy way for secondary students to access health care and health information for issues including;
- mental health and wellbeing
- healthy lifestyle – nutrition and physical activity
- development and growth
- relationships and sexual health and
- alcohol and other drugs.
School Health Nurses are skilled in assessing adolescent health needs. We engage in health counselling with young people to identify issues, risks and protective factors, provide advice and brief intervention, assist with access and referral to other services, and provide follow up care. Young people can arrange an appointment to discuss health and wellbeing issues.
Young people are always encouraged and supported to talk to their parents or guardians about significant health issues. The services provided are free and confidential. I will be at the school with my team of nurses for the Year 7’s in Week 7 and Year 10’s in Week 8 of Term 2 for their immunisations, information will be sent out in Term 2.
If you have a concern about your child’s health or wellbeing please contact me at aimee.leeson@health.wa.gov.au or on 0400 182 654
