From the Principal's Desk
Dear Members of St Joseph's Community
Parking
Primary – We understand that it is difficult finding parking at pickup time in the afternoons, but we ask for patience and common sense. Please remember that your children will be supervised until you arrive so you don’t have to arrive at the school early or panic if you can’t find a park at bell time. Within 10 minutes it is much clearer around the campus. The Kiss and Ride is a great option, and by 3:15 there is almost no wait time. Those choosing to park on Fermoy Avenue must give priority to the 18 buses that use the bus bays. Please do not park on the road or across driveways.
Secondary – Thank you to those parents who have worked with us to move the drive through further up the church carpark in an effort to reduce the congestion on Wellington Street. It has already made a difference to the way that the traffic flows.
Farewell
Last Friday we farewelled Mrs Sam Strahan from our Primary campus. Sam has been our primary counsellor on and off for the last couple of years. Sam has had a profound impact on the lives of many of our young people. Sam is leaving to concentrate on her private practice, and we wish her well with this. As we will not have a counsellor on the Primary campus for a while, we are very happy to pass on Sam’s details to anyone who would like to see her outside of the school. Please contact Michelle Christian if you would like these details.
Easter Raffle
As we do every year, the P&F is running an Easter raffle and are calling on donations from all families. Both campuses have collection points in the office. The more egg donations that are received, the more prizes can be given out. Tickets go on sale on both campuses in Week 8. More details to follow.
With God’s blessings,
Andrea Woodgate

Inter-House Swimming Carnival
Students from Years 4 to 12 had been preparing for the Interhouse Swimming Carnival in Week 4 - decorations and chants were ready for some serious house spirit.
Unfortunately, the predicted hot weather got in the way of our usual formatted carnival. Instead, Primary students competing in 50m events attended the pool during periods 1 and 2 and Secondary students in 50m races moved to the pool from period 3 onwards. Although it wasn’t the whole house experience, the students who participated put in an amazing effort and came out with some great results.
Congratulations to Mr Cameron Watson for making it through his first successful house carnival as the Primary PE specialist.
A huge thank you to the staff who helped and the incredible parents and family friends who stepped in to support us run this carnival. Without your willingness to support and jump in with a helping hand, we could not run these days.
Lastly, a big thank you for the continued support from Northam Swimming Club for allowing the school to use their blocks, timing equipment and providing us support to manage the overall results of the carnival.
